In 2011, the Council launched the Mayor's Civic Awards scheme to highlight those people who make an outstanding contribution to our community, or who set an aspiring example to others through their effort and determination.
It was announced that Tees Valley Music Service were nominated as one of the groups in the Service to the Community - Groups and Organisations Award Category.
The Award Panel met recently to consider the nominations and select the overall winners. They received over 100 nominations, the highest number of nominations since the awards were launched. The Panel said they found it "extremely difficult to choose a winner from so many remarkable accounts of people whose care, compassion, sacrifice and dedication deserves to be recognised."
Although TVMS ultimately missed out on winning the award, the Panel commended staff for their "extraordinary, dedication and commitment." They continued; "we would therefore like to formally thank you for the contribution you have made to this Community and the Borough as a whole."
TVMS manager Susan Robertson commented that it was "a lovely thing to have received and a wonderful accolade for the ongoing work we do at TVMS."
