EQUALITY, DIVERSITY & INCLUSION

Work continues between Tees Valley Music Service and MUSINC on further embedding of equality, diversity and inclusion into working and teaching practices and two working parties continue to inform the current development of this strategy:

Health and Wellbeing and Youth Voice.

This inclusion strategy has been created by Tees Valley Music Service and partners Musinc, through funding from Arts Council England and as part of the work of the Alliance for a Musically Inclusive England. It outlines the action plan for developing inclusive practice throughout the hub partnership organisations and advisory board. The implementation of this strategy will be driven by inclusion sub groups and will be reviewed and overseen by the hub board. Previous development work from the 20/23 Strategy remains visible in light blue text to map progression.

The strategy is a live document showing development history and is being updated for the period 2023/26 and the link to it can be found here:

Youth Voice Working Party

Using a mixture of media including online forms, evaluations face to face discussion and video interviews, TVMS and partners gather the thoughts and opinions and needs of children and young people across Tees Valley. The data and minutes from meetings will be shared with the Tees Valley Music Education Hub Advisory Board and will feed into the Hub Needs Analysis.

Health and Wellbeing Working Party

TVMS has established membership of partnerships with three local Health and Wellbeing networks across Tees Valley; (Middlesbrough, South Tees and North Tees). The evaluations from events and minutes from meetings are shared with the Tees Valley Music Education Hub Advisory Board and will feed into the Hub Needs Analysis. Senior TVMS managers are also members of these Health & Wellbeing Partnerships. TVMS runs a very successful Wellness choir and engages in partnership work with several community hubs.

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of performance: Level A, Level AA and Level AAA. TVMEH is fully conformant with WCAG 2.1 level AA. Fully conformant means that the content fully conforms to the accessibility standard without exceptions.
